Phillip Randall Peery, a graduate from Temple University with a BA in Media & Communication and a Certificate in Entrepreneurial and Innovative Management from Fox School of Business. Currently, I am the Sales Assistant for the Radio One Philadelphia market where I have become CSS (Center for Sales Strategy) Certified. I also work on the Guest Services teams for the Fillmore Philadelphia & Insomniac Events working for some of the largest festivals in the country. I have a passion for music with years of experience within the industry.
My home state is Virginia, where I held several internships. The first internship was at a local recording studio, Alive Studios, and the second was WMRA, an NPR member radio station. Another internship I held was at a Clear Channel Radio in Harrisonburg,VA for two years. While having these opportunities to be an intern I learned all about the different departments that facilitate how a radio station functions, concentrating on production.
Once I graduated high school in 2012 I moved to the Philadelphia, PA region to attend PSU Brandywine for a year before attending Temple University. I volunteered at the first annual FoxTail Festival, and also joined the SoundGarden Hall Street Promotion Team for a semester. That is when I decided to reach out to Watts On The Weekend, where I could combine my radio passion with my musical taste by being the Executive Producer of one of Philadelphia’s first EDM radio show. During the summer between my sophomore and junior year I held the position of social media & marketing intern at Phillybass’d Entertainment & Records. I was the project leader on creating a new internet radio station for PBE, as well as managing several client accounts.
My first semester of junior year I joined the Viacom internship program with MTV on-air Promos. The second semester of my junior year I studied abroad in London and had the opportunity to learn more about the international music industry through my internship at UltraDJ Management as the assistant booking agent. My senior year I held an internship with WXPN’s World Cafe radio program in the programming department. The show is syndicated on over 200 NPR member stations. During the same period I worked as an A/V Technician at MRS Audio Visual. For a brief period after graduation, I worked as an Executive Assistant for Malik Yusef Wordsmyth / G.O.O.D Music under their Executive Training Program. I am also a current member of the Broadcast Education Association, and the Philadelphia Grammy U Chapter, connect with me on GrammyPro.
My philosophy is that you never stop learning and I strive to soak up as much knowledge and experience within the entertainment industry as I can, so lets chat and brainstorm the next innovation!
